My Update at just 5 days short of one year since my surgery to repair my aneurism, replace my aortic valve, a maze procedure and clipping my left atrial appendage. For almost the last year I have been very challenged trying to recover back to my physical athletic strength as... Read more.
So glad to hear your heart is great and you are feeling great after the infusion. Hope you figure out why you are anemic and that it can be easily treated.
That is great!! So good to hear how good you are doing after 1 year.
Hopefully they will figure out why quickly but great news about your heart!!!❤️
Thank you all for your comments and good wishes! The last year has been a challenge but I'm very happy they found the cause of my issues and dealing with it now. The infusion has made all the difference. I just wonder how much quicker my recovery from the surgery... Read more.

Hi Everyone, It's been just over 9 months since I had my surgery. I did the surgery at Mount Sinai hospital and Dr. El-Hamamsy did my surgery. He replaced my aortic valve, repaired my aneurism, did a maze procedure and clipped my left atrial appendage. My recovery has been uneventful... Read more.

Took me 13 to 14 months to fully recover. I was very fit going into the surgery. You had a lot of work on your heart so 5 months is not long at all. As long as you are improving each month is what counts. If not improving, different story.
I am 11 months into recovery and it has definitely taken much longer than I thought to get my upper body strength moving along. I think a major surgery like all of us have been through tells you to take it easy and be patient❤️
Wishing you well, Daniel. Hope your personal trainer can help get you closer to where you want to be.
It is still very early for you. Those who are athletic have a harder time after surgery as they are impatient to be as they were before. It's hard. Yes. It takes longer than one thinks to get back to a pre-surgery level. If your surgeons had been truly honest... Read more.
Most people, myself included, think they will miraculously "be better" right away and that's usually not the case. I don't think I felt "over the surgery" for at least a year.
Thank you all for your comments and sharing your experiences. I will try and be more patient and count my blessings with my improving fitness! 😊

This week was 12 weeks since my surgery for an aortic valve replacement, aneurysm repair, a maze procedure and my left atrium clip. I had my surgery at Mount Sinai hospital where my cardiologist Dr J Halperin and surgeon Dr. Ismal Hamamsy took great care of me. For me 12... Read more.
Wow. That's quite an accomplishment. But don't push too hard. Your body has been through a lot. However, you are fit so that definitely helps in the recovery. Keep us posted. Congratulations!

Fantastic you are riding at 12 weeks! I'm celebrating 16 months post OHS AVR and AA Graft and tell my cycling buddies I have a high performance aftermarket valve.😊
Daniel - 12 miles at 12 weeks post-op!?!? You are a rock star! ❤️
Congrats!! I’m now at 14 weeks post op and amazed at how the body recovers as well!
