Hi Heart Valve Warriors! It's been a bit and wondering how everyone is doing. I'm still tickin', and still working full time as a 3rd grade teacher. My first year valve-aversary was 4-22-25 and so I’m rounding the bend toward my 2nd year valve-aversary. It seems that doctors are definitely... Read more.
Hello Daneen, My condolences to you and your family on your mother's passing. 🙏 Our valve versaries are very close. 04-09-2025 for me, and doing very well. Working full time and commute by bike most days but not all for example today there was just too much snow. All the... Read more.
Thank you, Darrell! I remember we were on a similar timeline. You are an inspiration with all of your biking! 👍 That is fantastic! Glad you are doing well. Thank you so much! 😊
Daneen, I'm so sorry to hear any your mother's passing. And it seems you are having a lot of change in your life. You've always had a great attitude and that will certainly help you. 👍🙏❤️‍🩹

I just celebrated my 1 year “valve-a-versary” on 4/22/25. My aorta, root, and aortic valve were replaced. I am now working out 3 times per week at EŌS gym and slowly building back my stamina, core, and strength. Finally free from side effects post surgery and afib (fingers crossed). Now,... Read more.
Great to hear from you Daneen! We were on a similar schedule. I just had my one year and my local cardiologist was very pleased. I’ll have a video-conference with Dr Roselli soon. 💕 And congratulations to you!
Congratulations and God bless you 🙏❤️
Wow Daneen! Just over a year for you and mine’s coming up in a month—what a year it has been for both of us! 🙌🏻🙌🏻 much harder than I thought it would be, and for different reasons, but coming up on this milestone is pretty amazing right? God is good... Read more.

It’s been a really long time since I’ve been on the site. I missed you guys. It’s been a busy school year and holiday season trying to adjust to normal, everyday life. I am now 9 mos. post aortic root, valve, and aneurysm surgery. I’ve struggled to have any leftover... Read more.
Glad you found the vertigo culprit! I am out just over a year and still struggling with regaining my strength, too. In my case it’s mostly muscular skeletal issues preventing me from exercising at the level I will like. I think it’s not uncommon to have aches and pains after... Read more.
I have a biological mitral prosthesis implanted. The only thing I can think of to help you is that maybe you have overdone the weights or the amount of time you exercise. I do 4-pound weights, but for little time. When I notice any slight pain, I stop the exercise.... Read more.
Yumiko, I remember being so amazed when you were exercising and recovering so well after your surgery. Sorry you are still battling strength issues yourself. I think mine are musculoskeletal as well. I have a telehealth appt today with my cardiologist to make sure they are aware too. Thank you... Read more.
Fidel, thank you so much for the advice! I do a lot of walking but need core strength, balance, and some overall toning. I will keep the weights low and reduce the amount of reps! God Bless you as well!
Good to hear from you Daneen. Your doing very well. Glad you have figured out that vertigo. I have annoying neck pain. I'm going to my Family Doctor next Monday to see if physical therapy will help and maybe massage. It usually hurts the most when I sit down to... Read more.
Good luck, i am going to pt tomorrow for hip pain. I also have a pain in my neck but i have not told my wife yet. She does not read these or i would be toast.
That’s funny! Richard you crack me up! Thanks Darrell. How’s the biking going?
Interesting the vertigo related to eliquis thanks for posting this. Did you every fall from the vertigo. So glad you’re doing better and posted hopefully you got a good set of kids this year.
Hi Daneen! Great to hear from you! Thrilled to hear the vertigo culprit has been found. I am building my strength but it’s been a process. First 30 sessions at cardio rehab and now personal training at the gym once per week and a couple more times to repeat the... Read more.
Biking is good. Commute to and from work most days 7.5km each way. Looking forward to spring to hit the trails. Thx for asking
You are doing a lot!! This can cause tiredness and pain. Take it easy! (this from someone who had surgery almost 10 years ago)
Thanks for the update, Daneen! Good for you starting a workout routine! I'm trying to do the same myself- joined a new club and have 5 cardio workouts under my belt. Rowing and stationary bike. Back issues and musculoskeletal issues starting to feel better already. It took me a long... Read more.
