Are all or most of us with valve replacements (tissue or mechanical) prescribed to remain on low-dose aspirin - for life? My cardiologist has me on such regimen, and says he believes it’s a standard (or maybe a different anti-coagulant regimen). I’d welcome learning what others have heard.
I have a tissue valve and am on one aspirin daili (325 mg). Not sure for how long but I assumed for life. Good question for my cardiologist when I go see him in late February.
Tissue valve and low dose or 81mg each day, yes you are supposed to take it every day for life, people with mechanical valves have to be on warfarin for life so no need for a low dose aspirin.
I have a tissue valve (homograft) and no coronary artery disease. My doctors have yet to recommend a low does aspirin. I'll ask about this.
I had Tissue AVR, ascending aneurysm and root in March and I take a baby ASA daily.Age may have something to do with the decision, as well as other medical history.
All of my doctors recommend 81mg baby aspirin daily as well. Must take it for life.
Thx so much everyone. A low-dose (81 mg) “baby” aspirin for tissue valves seems very common - perhaps even a standard protocol. I wish steady healing and sustained health to us all. Craig
Once my cardiologist confirmed severe aortic stenosis he told me to start taking 81mg aspirin. My AVR is scheduled in two weeks, so good question, I was wondering the same thing and thankful it's the only thing I'm taking.
I had a tissue replacement, I was told I will be permanently on Asprin unfortunately because of the sever acidity in my stomach, I also have to take another tab to counteract that.

per Richard King's post below; I activated my Heart Hugger device today. Seems highly useful.
Thanks for posting the picture Craig. I'll definitely grab one of these in advance of my October surgery. I remember using the cushion after my first open heart procedure - not very effective. I can also wear the hugger when I fly back home post surgery without attracting too much... Read more.
I'm glad you went with the heart hugger. Mine worked real well for me. Hope everything turns out better this time.
Wish I had something like that. I had the heart which did help. Is this called a cushion, will ask my doctors to look into to this instead of the heart pillow
You look like you're doing well, Craig! So was the repair surgery worth the pain and down time? I meet with my surgeon later this week to discuss the path forward for me since my pain is getting worse and is restricting activity.

6 plates. One large on top and bottom; and four small plates in between.
Wow Craig...What a photo. Thinking about you and hoping you are feeling even a tiny bit better. I remember the photo of you getting some sun after your first OHS. Seems so long ago. Wishing you some relief from pain and a smoother path forward.. Take care.
