Happy to report that I celebrated 3 years of life after AVR this past Sept - now that life is going on in a normal way - I am considering some elective surgery but I did a mechanical valve and am on warfarin - has anyone dealt with this? Can... Read more.

Once your doctors know about your heart valve replacement they will bridge you with heparine (either shots or an IV) before, during and after your surgery. It is very rare that they would let you go without anticoagulants (especially if your mitral valve is involved) even for a very minor... Read more.

fyi - Entresto can improve ejection fraction - it has helped my numbers go back into normal range!!
