Hello fellow heart warriors. It’s been a while. I had a successful Mitral Valve repair at Mayo Rochester in March 2017. All had been going well until last March when the pandemic hit. Up until then, I had been working out 3 days a week with Kettlebells, as well as... Read more.

I also notice that after tennis or pickleball in our hot ,humid Florida climate that my heart rate goes higher an stays high longer . I think for me, I am not hydrating enough, am not aerobically fit enough, and I found that during the summer, I just can’t play... Read more.
Extreme heat plus humidity has a major impact on heart functionality. At cardiac rehab was told to not do any exercise or extensive anything when temps were over 80, plus there is the humidity factor. Am only 3 months out from surgery, but dont expect this caution to change much... Read more.

Hello fellow heart warriors . I was recently contacted by another fellow Mitral Valve repair patient wondering how I was doing and suggested that I update my journal. Well...I'm still here! As you all know, I had a stroke 3 months after my repair which gave me a minor setback.... Read more.
Thanks for the update Ben. It takes time to feel "normal" again, whatever that normal may be. A year sometimes seems like a short time when you later look back at it. Here's hoping that you will be soon back in the (muscle) shape that you are used to. Take... Read more.
So glad to read your update & hear how well you are doing! And thanks for letting us know what the docs think caused the stroke - I'm 4 months past a repair with an artificial ring, I won't be pushing so hard to stop the Coumadin now! Best wishes... Read more.

It can be hard to get information in hospitals. Doctors spend their time talking to computers and feel they have spoken to patients. One sits around waiting for explanations... I'm sorry you have to gotthrough this. Being readmitted to hospital is no fun. Take care, and hope you have some... Read more.

Wow, Ben - prayers that you get appropriate answers and treatment from your doctors after this upsetting occurrence.
Very thankful you're doing so well, Ben. Wow.
Take good care. Why are you going home so quickly if that is not what they normally do? I hope you are comfortable with that, if not please voice your concerns. I am sending you positive energy. 💓
That is so scary, Ben. Did they put you on blood thinners? I'm really surprised you are being discharged so early. Be your own advocate, if it doesn't feel right, question them. Prayers for you. Yvonne and Craig
Wishing you a full recovery! Your heart brothers and sisters are sending our well wishes!!!
