This has been a long running saga since 2010. After a car accident I was diagnosed with a bicuspid aortic valve with mild to moderate regurgitation. Year after it’s been a watch and wait. 2015 ct results came back that ascending aorta was dilated at 5.7cm. Cue the change in lifestyle and change in gym activities. After getting a second opinion it came back as 4.6 with no immediate need for surgery. Fast forward to tail end of last year and echo came back that aorta had been measured at 5.3cm. A ct was organised which showed aortic root was 4.6 and ascending aorta had not changed from the last ct scan. When the cardiologist queried this it was confirmed that the ascending aorta was showing at 5.7cm as per the original measurement in 2016!!!!! So to summarise it has remained the same since 2016 at 5.7 cm. He can’t explain how this mistake was made and the second opinion coming in with different figure. I have now been refered to cardiac surgeon for a consultation with him. I have been through a roller coaster ride the last 7 years and this recent news has sent me spiralling. All the old skeletons have came out the closet all the old fears and worries are now at my door again. Has anyone else had similar experiences and what advice would you give.
