About Me

Born with Bicuspid Aortic valve stenosis and Ventricular Septal Defect. My first surgery was Angioplasty at 2 years at Texas Childrens Hospital. I had reoccurring pneumonia and also tested positive for TB. April 2015 I was hospitalized with pneumonia and Endocarditis due to braces I had put on. I stayed 6 weeks in the hospital and went home to continue my IV antibiotics. 9 months later at my check up i was told the Endocarditis had done alot of damage to my aorta and I would need Open heart surgery. June 13, 2007 (16 yrs) old)I had my first Open Heart Surgery-Ross procedure. I was in surgery for 18 hours! I have since gone on with a pretty "normal" life. I have had normal regurgitation in Aortic, pulmonary and tricuspid. I have a Thorasic Aortic Root Anyresum that we have been monitoring. 2019 I had my first baby in June and in August my Anyresum measured at a 5. July this year I had another MRI and I measured 5.5 and 30% aortic regurgitation. I will go Nov 1st to have a follow up to measure the growth and im hoping by those results to be setting my surgery date for OPH #2. We will replace my Bicuspid valve, pulmonary and my Anyresum. We are hoping that this will be my last OHS surgery and next time we can go through cath!!! UPDATE: Little change to my Aortic root dilation. But now have moderate ascending dilation and my LV has mild dilation and regurgitation. There is slight outpouching at the site of proximal conduit attachment to the right ventricle with dyskinetic motion. (Not exactly sure what that means) I have another appointment with my Cardiologist February 10th. Fingers crossed for surgery date!
