I'm a veteran that recently was informed that I have severe Aortic Valve Stenosis, etc. I have a Bicuspid Valve with absolutely no symptoms. I hiked mountains exercise daily and eat somewhat healthy. LOL The news is devastating to me at this time, however, better knowing than not knowing. It was suggested being physically fit as with being 60 years young that a mechanical valve would work best for me. However, the VA cardiologist never mentioned about what happens after post op. I spent several frustrating weeks on the phone with the VA in finding out that the VA doesn't support the INR test machine. And, the VA doesn't support outside lab testing, which means if I want my INR tested I would need to travel 2 hours to the VA hospital. Oh, I would also need to have my primary care physician order the INR testing who is located at a VA Clinic elsewhere and is very hard to get a hold of. Therefore, I'm moving forward to the Inspiris valve. Makes no sense to me why the government would pay $250,000 plus for my operation, but has no clue with with a plan for me after post op. I'm waiting now to be scheduled for a CT Scan and Catheterization for better information, and in making sure I've nothing else is wrong. I found this Blog site today where I'm new.
