I'm 41 years old and a mother of two from Austin. Three years ago my doctor found an irregular heartbeat during a routine physical. After an echo I was diagnosed with severe mitral regurgitation and paroxysmal atrial fibrillation.
This spring my cardiologist said surgery is the best option. I've been referred to Dr. Chikwe at Cedars-Sinai for a mitral valve repair and Maze procedure scheduled for August 14, 2026. I'm nervous but hopeful and want to document my journey here.😷
