I have had a murmur since I was a kid. I think the reason was scarlet fever. Never really had any problems and my family physician wanted a yearly echo but since there never was any change I haven't had one in 7 years. Maybe things started sounding a little different because he order one this year and to my surprise I had severe mitral regurgitation and thought surgery was better now than later.
