Send Brian a NoteAbout Me
I remember as a young child watching doctors listen to my heart and talking about how I had a murmur. Guess I was born with mitral valve prolapse. Never had any symptoms. I work out 4 days a week, 49 years old, and have a very active lifestyle. Went to my family doc back in June for a routine visit and he said I have a heart murmur. Next thing I know I'm at the cardiologist and he tells me I need surgery. Never had anything but stitches in my life. I'm scheduled for surgery on November 26th at the Cleveland Clinic. Dr. Gillinov (who I haven't met yet) will be performing the surgery. From what I know at this point they plan to do a minimally invasive procedure to repair my mitral valve. Not sure what to expect but I'm extremely nervous and anxious. Reading all of your posts has truly helped me control the mental part of it.
