Diagnosed several years ago. Had watched my dad go through bioprost 2x. I’m 43 and have a minor bleeding disorder so mechanical and bio valves were not good choices. I live in Portland. OR and had interviewed several local physicians but was jot satisfied with their level of experience with the Ross. My wife and I traveled down to USC in September and met with Dr. Starnes. We immediately felt comfortable with his clear description of the volume of Ross procedures he was doing. He was thorough, always looking for less invasive alternatives, and immediately put you at ease. I describe the ideal surgeon as an “empathic fighter pilot.†He fits that persona perfectly.
I’m in the USC step down telemetry unit. Walking 6-7 times a day, sleeping well, getting ready for discharge 5 days post op. Going to hang out here at the Curry Suites for another week (our choice). Still battling pain a bit (a challenge of activity vs timing). Amazed at how well I’m doing so far.
