My fevers began about 9 weeks ago after exposure to strep. At the same time, I started experiencing shortness of breath with standing, walking, and talking. Echos were done which showed a worsening of my MVP and MR. Lambyl's excrescences were also seen for the first time, too. All throat cultures for strep and blood cultures have been negative. There's a 2% chance that I could have negative-culture endocarditis according to my local cardiologist. All of my doctors are at a loss, but very concerned since I continue to run fevers from 99.4 F to 100.8 and surgery is in 3 weeks. Thanks for any input!

I'll be having surgery in 3 weeks. I'm considered "high-risk" due to my mitochondrial disease and also, prior anesthetic complications (i.e., respiratory failure from anesthetics). I also have a suspected bleeding disorder -- HHT or Osler-Weber-Lindau. Does anyone else have a neuromuscular disease which places them at a higher risk for surgery? Thanks for any input!
