My surgeon decided to put off my surgery to December 9 due to a cough. At first I was a little disappointed, I was prepared. But, quickly came to the realization that 'it is how it should be.' My thoughts and prayers are with all of you as you prepare... Read more.

Oh no, that's no good to hear you have a cough. I hope it doesn't develop and disappears. I too am concerned about getting sick leading upto mine, especially because I work around children and seem to catch everything more easily and severe. Did they say how long in advance... Read more.
Sorry for the delay but it sounds like your surgeon is looking out for you. Coughing is not comfortable for awhile and sneezing is the worst pain I've ever had to deal with.

Hi Everyone! I am just over 2 weeks before my surgery and hoping that some of you that are post-op can share any pre-op exercises (for mind, body or spirit) that you know worked to help in your recovery. Thank you in advance! Suzanne

I stayed busy, prepared for surgery by doing things I might not to be able to do right after. I also exercised to the end. I think that might b helping me the most with recovery. I am two weeks out and did about 45 minutes of walking today. Right... Read more.
My surgery was too urgent to change my routine. As a runner, I actually was told not to exercise because my aneurysm was so large. It was only 2 weeks. I did write long letters to my children and my wife. ( still sealed 4 yrs later). I found it... Read more.
Walk as you can. That will be the mantra post surgery. Find something to keep your mind occupied without a lot of focus while you are in the hospital for me it was audio books and ear buds.
One of my friends shared some some afformation and relaxation music that she had before surgery. Every night I listened to them before going to sleep.
Suzanne, I am 11 months post-op, second OHS. I found it very helpful before both surgeries to completely let go, meditate, pray and stay very positive. Positive thoughts, and positive visualization of a successful outcome was also very helpful. Find a way to be at peace with yourself and everything... Read more.
