Had my second mitral valve surgery in less than2 years on April 18th, and home from the hospital. I was in much better health than for the first surgery, but now want to start a regular and progressive exercise routine. Does anyone have guidelines on how much exercise to do... Read more.

Well you could go to the Golden Rec Center or join a cardiac rehab program but probably need clearance from your doc first in either case. Sounds like you are doing really well.

I am interested in any advise or experience with having a second open heart surgery to replace a prosthetic valve with a mechanical valve, as well as surgery to repair an ASD. Does anyone have experience with home testing for using anticoagulants?

I have one and it is about the same as a blood sugar test for diabetics. You do a finger prick for a drop of blood, put the blood on the test strip and the machine takes the reading. I go online and enter the reading and its sent to... Read more.

Thanks! Good to hear that it is easily done. How frequently does the dose have to be adjusted? Also good to hear it can be covered by insurance, after the deductible is reached!
