Thankfully I have been on colchicine 2x a day and forced myself to take it easy and have been symptom free for almost 2 weeks. I am going to wean off the medicine and fingers crossed that will be the end of that awful journey!

Hi Mara. I had a severe pericardial effusion one week after my surgery and then it came back as pericarditis about one month later. I am so sorry you are facing this... it hurts! And is scary. Please share how your drs are treating this? I was on Colchisine one... Read more.
I am so sorry you are facing pericarditis- it is awful. What scripts are you on? I was in colchicine and indomethacine for 3 months and no exercising. Unfortunately I had recurrent 1.5 months later. Take care of yourself and forget about exercise until doctors confirm you are out of... Read more.

At 5 weeks I suddenly did not feel well. It hurt to take deep breaths. Ended up in the closest emergency room Memorial Day weekend. They did a catscan and chest X-ray and found some fluid around my heart. Also my heart rate was high. I had caught a nasty... Read more.
Yes. I had fluid around my heart and had to have a second surgery about 2-1/2 weeks after my initial OHS to drain one liter of fluid. Full recovery takes time. Your body was majorly traumatized so everything inside is inflamed. Give it time and take good care of yourself.... Read more.
Getting a cold during your recovery gave you a additional challenge. Recovery is a slow process even in ideal conditions, so try to be patient with yourself. Wishing you a speedy recovery!
