If I have a heart attack, can I be given CPR with my porcine valve?

Good question! I would imagine you could use a defibrillator, and probably once your sternum has healed, CPR wouldn't be a problem, but I really never thought about that.

Yep. I'm a Paramedic and we do CPR on lots of people with all different types of valves, pacemakers, etc. The only device where CPR really wouldn't be effective is a patient with a Ventricular Assist Device.

You are very inspirational. Because of you I am going to start playing tennis again. I haven't touched a racket since my aortic valve replacement and never thought I could or would again. I was once ranked # 1 in Florida in the men's 4.0 division. Thanks and God Bless.
