I have a full pulmonary test on May 11, in order to see if there is any evidence of fibrosis. I used flecainide but have not used propafenone. Amiodarone replaced flecainide. I take 5 mg of Eliquis twice daily, so that base is covered. The side effects of these heart... Read more.
According to my information: * Flecainide is good if you have AFib but it's not good if you had heart failure * Amiodarone also helps with AFib and can be taken when you had heart failure. But it's toxic and shouldn't be taken over a long time (more than 6-12... Read more.
My mother had pulmonary fibrosis. Good luck to you.
Wow, just read your story. You are so fortunate that your aneurysm didnt rupture prior to your surgery. Prayers that you can get your lung issues diagnosed and begin treatment.

It has been 6 years from the OHS to replace the ascending aorta and valve. I recently celebrated my 77th. I get a CT Scan and echo cardiogram annually. The good news is the dacron graft is holding steady, and my EF is 55 to 60. There is a heart... Read more.
I would try to get off amiodarone. It's not a medicine you want to take over a long time, even if you are a bit older. I forgot the name but there is another medicine that supposedly helps with AFib. Might be flecainide or propafenone. You can't take it if... Read more.
I totally agree with Robert regarding Amiodarone.
Robert, I had ablation during the surgery, but AFIB returned after 4 weeks. Does ablation treat AFIB?
AFib might be present after surgery. You need to observe it after about 3 months. After 2-3 months they will probably put a heart monitor on which you have to wear for a couple of weeks. 4 weeks out is probably too early to tell if it helped or not... Read more.
The surgeon clipped off the LAA in surgery. I am on blood thinners to reduce the risk of a stroke. The Kardia mobile detected Sinus Rhythm with Wide QRS. But I have not trusted the Kardia. At my last visit to the cardiologist, she said I was in Sinus Rhythm.... Read more.
Yes, get off amiodarone. I guess the Kardia wasn't wrong as it said you are in sinus rhythm but with wide QRS. The thing is, you can use the Kardia multiple times a day and get some statistics. When you go to the cardiologist, they do a 30s scan every... Read more.

Coming up on the 3 years since the Bentall Procedure, replacing the Aorta valve and a new grafted (dacron) ascending aorta. A visit to the cardiologist on 2/24/23 turned out fine. She subscribed a different anti arrhythmic from flecanaide, with amiodarone, and replaced Bystolic with a generic. I would like... Read more.
Hi Jim, I don't take amiodarone, but read that eating or drinking grapefruit juice can amplify the possible side effects,by increasing the amount, that stays in the body.
I was on it for about 12 weeks and the side effects were horrible for me. You might ask the doctor about Multaq which I switched to for a while and now so not need either.
I take 200 mg of amiodarone daily, a light dose. It seems to keep the irregular heartbeat (arrhythmia/AFIB) under control and no side effects. It works better than the flecanaide. The normal EKG shows Sinus Rhythm Bradycardia with a 1st degree AV block. Kardia Mobile normally shows it as Sinus... Read more.
No. Thankfully I was one of those who had it four about six weeks. Then it was gone.
