Anyone have mitral valve surgery after aorta replacement ? I understand one of our community said this possible. Has anyone had the two surgeries separately

There are Mitral Valve reference centers in the US, about 25-30 of them, so make sure to at least get a consult at one of those since you are a second surgery patient. I can forward link if you need it.

I had both valves replaced at the same time, but some patients have the aortic done first (because it's the only valve that needs surgery at that time) and the mitral valve repaired/replaced later. Your surgeon should be able to advise you.

I had my aortic valve replaced in Feb. this year. The results of that were great. My latest echo shows aortic valve clear but my mitral valve shows some calcification. Mild to moderate. I am most grateful for the extended life. I do feel different however. I have not gotten my full energy back but perhaps that is age related. (68 and counting ) My mitral valve is leaking at a moderate level and my blood pressure is low. I recently was taken... Read more.

It is indeed a new â€œnormalâ€ after open heart surgery. Some of your ongoing symptoms could be from the leaking mitral valve. I hope your energy problem improves with time and from the changes to your meds. Keep us posted!
