A question for Adam Pick & members; I recently had a very successful Mitral valve Replacement surgery on April 15th whereas I purposely selected the Edwards Lifesciences "Mitris Resilia" Bovine Tissue valve due it's better technology anti-calcification properties just like the Aortic "Inspiris Resilia" Bovine Tissue valve has. ,,,,At the... I drink a lot of very light coffee in the morning (almost an addict), a mix of decaf and a little bit of caffeinated. I have since 18 months an Edwards Magna mitral valve- size 31, the former model to your Mitris Resilia, this last one being supposed made of... Read more.
Same here,,,,,In doing some Research, I had requested to have my atrial appendage closed off additionally & the highly experienced Thoracic Surgeon agreed.
Hi Barry. I have taken coumadin for 10 years for 2 mechanical valves and I drink as much or as little coffee as I like. INR will go up and down no matter what you eat or drink. You can live your regular life, eat and drink as normal and... Read more.
Thanks Rita!!! I'm doing this routine supposedly for only the initial (3) month Mitral valve break in period & I'm just being cautious.
Barry - I was on blood thinners for three months after my mitral valve repair surgery and I wasn't asked to give up my morning coffee, but I did need to be consistent with my diet to ensure I was medicated appropriately. However, I did develop PACS and PVCS and... Read more.

Greetings again Adam Pick; Gotta question for Adam & any others who had the Ross Procedure done way back when. Would I have been eligible for the Ross Procedure back in 2016 given that I had Upper chest mantle radiation therapy for the Early stages of Hodgkin's disease(2A) back in... Read more.
i’ll share what i know. which is no where near complete. things that apply to ross eligibility: what shape your pulmonary valve is in (it’s usually ok but there is a chance it’s not so good), whether pulmonary goes in your aortic position well and fits well, etc. i have... Read more.

A question for everyone; Back in 2016, TAVR wasn't actually very prevalent & only a certain category of people had to be approved to have it done. These days it's very common & being done quite often as an alternative to OHS. ,,,,With the latest Edwards Lifesciences Inspiris Resilia Aortic... Read more.
Hi Barry, I recently had an Inspiris valve put in and my surgeon indicated to me that 23mm would enable me to have TAVR down the road (provided all other criteria pointed to TAVR being the best option).
Thanks Nancy. ,,,The main reason I'm asking this question is that back in 2016, I had received the Edwards Lifesciences 3300TFX Bovine Tissue valve thru OHS but it was 21mm. I powered thru the overall surgery with relative ease. ,,,I had missed the release & approval of the Inspiris Resilia... Read more.
I had a 27mm aortic valve put in when I had my surgery.
