About Me

In 2011, during my routine annual physical, my GP thought she heard "something" when listening to my heart. She sent me to a cardiologist who, after testing, diagnosed me with mild aortic stenosis and set a 5-year follow up. In summer of 2016, I had the 5-year checkup and learned my aortic stenosis had progressed to severe status. This surprised me as I wasn't necessarily presenting symptoms and my general health remained the same. Well, several tests and cardiologist/surgical consults later, I'm preparing for aortic valve replacement and possible ascending aorta repair. I'm anxious, but moreover I'm grateful: grateful it was caught; grateful it can be fixed; and grateful that God put such skilled and compassionate professionals in my path to care for me.
