About Me

Thought I was pretty healthy until 11/27/18 when I felt and heard a strange noise in my chest. Life changed that day when ER found a moderate to serious aortic valve leak and mitral valve leak. The testing started and confirmed the aortic valve damage and leak, enlarged upper aorta and mitral valve leak. One of my aortic valve leaflets is moving in and out of the chamber allowing a stream of blood to flow back. The DR has not seen this before. I also have a loud swoosh noise that is baffling him. He's not sure how this occurred. How it occurred is not my concern right now, how to fix it is. He said I need an aortic valve replacement, mitral valve repair and aorta repair. New to this but looking forward to getting it done and moving on. We all have better things to do!!! My Cardiologist is Dr. Gandhi in Newport Beach, Ca, and we are looking at Cardio Surgeons. They are looking to schedule surgery in January. I wanted the Ross procedure but was told there are better procedures and technology is progressing every 6 months. I was told there are tissue valves that do not require blood thinners. I don't want to take medication. Thoughts? Thanks Vern
