I have congenital aortic stenosis with a bicuspid valve that was diagnosed at birth and so has resulted in a lifetime of cardiac surveillance. I had been told since childhood that I would eventually need a valve replacement, but to wait as long as possible for advancements in technology. Well after also developing an aortic aneurysm (common with bicuspid valves, who knew?) and starting to become winded with exercise, the time finally arrived to replace.
