I am a 33 year old mother and wife. I am a city planner by day and a part time photographer in my free time. I was "diagnosed" with a murmur in college, but in 2012, at an urgent care visit for step throat, I was directed to get an echocardiogram. Now, we are on the path towards surgery and options for a new aortic valve. I was born with a bicuspid arctic valve which is now stenotic and causing symptoms. Surgery completed on January 13, 2015. Due to size of my aorta and heart, a patch was used while setting porcine valve.
