I really want to encourage everyone to choose the best surgeon at the very best, top rated heart hospital in the country for your heart surgery. I cannot stress this enough. I had a complicated robotic mitral valve repair (anterior leaflet) at the Cleveland Clinic. As it turned out, I was one of the minuscule few who experienced serious complications during and after the surgery. I don't want to go into details as I do not want to frighten people, but I can say for sure, that if I had not been at the Cleveland Clinic, I would not be here writing this today. Please read U.S. News and World Report's "Best Hospitals In America" then choose wisely. A conveniently located hospital may not be your best bet.
