I was diagnosed with mitral valve prolapse 15+ years ago and have been watching it since then. The regurgitation increased this past year. My surgery, full sternectomy was on March 25 at NYP/Cornell. The team and care and my family support was excellent. They found the valve flailed and fixed it. Recovery certainly has its ups and downs but six months post and feeling back to normal. Cardiac rehabilitation here in NC was really helpful.
