About Me

In about 2005, I found out I was born with a bicuspid aortic valve. My dad had aneurysm repair and aortic valve replacement (mechanical) in 2000. He is doing well. His doctor suggested I get screened. I did not have any symptoms until fairly recently. During my yearly appointment with my local cardiologist, testing showed the aortic regurgitation was becoming severe and my left ventricle was enlarged. Although earlier tests suggested I also had an aortic aneurysm, it never exceeded 4 cm so there is no discussion of repairing that. I had cardiac catherization on 8/24, no blockages, regurgitation is serious. We could see the blood rushing right back into the left ventricle.
