About Me

Went in for a routine physical on my 49th Birthday. My blood work was good and blood pressure was perfect. Doctor told me that he would see me next year for my 50th. I asked him about a stress test or anything else that I could do to screen myself. He told me about a county hospital promotion in February where you pay $99 and get a Chest CT. February 20, 2018 I had the CT and got a call from my doctor that night. He told me that I had an Thoracic Aortic Anuerysm measuring 4.9cm. I had no idea what that was but it didn’t sound good. He referred me to a Cardioligist and I went and had an echocardiogram and Angio CT. These confirmed diagnosis and added that I had a bicuspid aortic valve. I have chosen to have my surgery at Duke University with Dr. Jeffrey Gaca as my surgeon.
