Send Matthew a NoteAbout Me
I was diagnosed with a bicuspid aortic valve out of the blue when I was 15 years old on a screening ultrasound. It's been stable ever since but with severe regurgitation and some cardiomegaly. After years of monitoring and stressful appointments with the shadow hanging over me, I was finally told now, at 34, it's time to do something. It's no surprise. I've expected this at every appointment for the last 20 years and have only been surprised when everything was stable. It's strange to have something so dramatic upcoming when you're otherwise so healthy and feel well. All I can do is focus on the life I will have when surgery is over.
