I am 52 yr. old. mom of two. My oldest is 22, the youngest just turned 21. I was diagnosed with a heart murmur about 10 yrs. ago. I received radiation treatment for Hodgkin's disease in 1989. The theory is that the stenosis is a result of the radiation therapy. My primary doctor has been monitoring my murmur annually with Echo's since he identified my murmur. I have now reached severe aortic stenosis. Echo's moved to 6 mth. reviews and I started seeing a cardiologist in April 2016. I am asymptomatic. But recently have noticed that I am tired all the time and my energy is low. I met with a surgeon last week and he recommended that On-X mechanical valve. I was trying to avoid anticoagulant. But both my primary doctor and surgeon believe this is my best solution. If anyone has had this valve and has stories to share, I would appreciate it!
