About Me

Hi everyone, 3 years ago I had an Echocardiogram and no alarms were set off so I thought all was well. Did not like the Cardiologist so changed. 2020 I had another echo and Doc referred me for a TEE. That showed stenosis so had an angiogram during which they inserted a stent and confirmed my stenosis needed correcting. Been thru 4 more hours of tests and surgeon and I met. After reviewing my tests with colleagues, he recommended TAVR at my age (74). I have no symptoms but a tiny bit more tired which I thought was just age creeping up. Was hoping TAVR was an option and I was convinced I would do it until he said if there was a glitch, he would have to do emergency SAVR. I'm just wondering if anyone else was warned about this possibility? I understand there are risks with all procedures but the mention of emergency surgery scared me. He's done 80 TAVR's and only 2 had glitches that resulted in SAVR. I forgot to ask if they were bicuspid valves like mine and will call his office. Joined this site after watching a few videos and wanted to post to see if there are any more questions I should ask. Thank you all.
