I discovered about 10 years ago I had a bicuspid aortic valve. I have gotten yearly echos and have watched it go from moderate stenosis to now critical with the addition of severe aortic regurgitation. Now is the time for surgery. Oh, yuk! I must say it has felt like a dark cloud hanging over my head knowing it did not matter how much I exercised or tried to live healthy, the inevitable would be surgery. I ordered Adam's book many years ago which helped me immensely understanding the disease and have learned so much by the stories and journals shared by the people on this site.
