I was diagnosed with an aneurysm on my aorta. I expected to hear that I would need an operation that would go up through the groin to repair it. However, my surgeon Dr. Kevin Accola informed me he was more concerned about my mitral valve and recommended that I get a bovine valve replacement. It has taken me awhile to get my head wrapped around this however, Dr. Accola has performed more than 8,000 valve replacement surgeries. I am confident that I am in the right hands and I have heard from others that his medical team is fantastic. I'm also encouraged to find this website and to hear the many stories of others in my same shoes. I feel,the more I learn, the better prepared I will be and will know what to expect. The waiting is the hardest part.
