About Me

I was diagnosised with mitral valve stenosis in July/august of this past summer, I was having a semi routine surgery" tonsilectomy " when under anesthesia I went into congestive heart failure and suffered pulmonary edema, I had really no symptoms except sometimes feeling tired after running or walking, but I just figured I was out of shape. After leaving the hospital from my adult tosilectomy " which is not fun" I was told to go see my PCD who told me to see a cardiologist , after an Echo and a TEE I was told I have severe mitral valve stenosis, probably caused from rheumatic fever as a child. I was never told prior to this that I have any kind of heart condition or a weird sound when having a check up, so needless to say I' m very confused. Not only that but apparently it's not very common in the US and therefore there are not any surgeons experienced in doing repairs only replacements . So I'm pissed because a repair is what I would like, I do not want a mechanical valve and have OHS and be on blood thinners forever, I'm scared to be put to sleep again I have three children, 2 daughters in high school. I feel terrible
