About Me

I am a 50 year old woman. Initial diagnosis aortic bi-valve in 2014 via echo. Next diagnosis aortic stenosis with moderate sclerosis in 2018; noted sclerotic tri-cuspid valve not bi-valve. Recent diagnosis of late moderate stenosis with severe sclerosis in 2021. Recommended for annual echo and follow-up. Am concerned that approach may be too conservative. Update: completed second opinion with Baylor, Scott, & White in Plano, TX. After extensive testing, indeed it is time for SAVR. Due to the relatively small size of my aorta, my relatively young age for this, and confirmation of bi-cuspid valve anatomy, SAVR with mechanical valve is best “one and done” option. Very much looking forward to completing the surgery and the road to full recovery.
