I am a 68 year old man who has always been active. After 20+ years of a heart murmur, I noticed a steady decline of my endurance and breathing over the past 18 months. My GP suspected a valve deficiency and ordered an echocardiogram which confirmed aortic heart valve regurgitation. I am scheduled for a cardiac catherization and a TEE this Thursday. I have done a lot of research about treatment procedures and surgical centers. My local regional medical center is fortunate to have a top notch cardiac surgeon. At this point I am leaning toward having my surgery here rather than going through the "inconvenience" of traveling out of state.
