About Me

My cardiologist and I watched my mitral valve for over ten years. Regurgitation was mild until September 2022 when the EKG reported moderate regurgitation. A subsequent TEE showed that regurgitation was moderate to severe and that the left atrium was mildly dilated. I was asymptomatic. I talked with Dr. Sarin and decided I would have the surgery now while I'm healthy and before I get any older and perhaps less tolerant of anesthesia. I had mitral valve repair on April 25, 2023 and was assured that it was successful. Three days after surgery an echocardiogram showed that there was slight regurtation. An echocardiogram eleven weeks post-surgery shows that I have moderate regurgitation. Has anyone else had a mitral valve repair that didn't correct the problem? I'm not sure what to do next.
