I was diagnosed with a heart murmur just 2 years ago after my first open heart surgery to replace my right main artery. No I need a complete valve replacement as my valve was never formed properly from birth. Have so many emotions going into this I'm actually more frightened than I was for the first open heart. I think what scares me the most is that so many people tell make sure they give you this valve don't let them give you that now make sure this valve is going to work for you for a long time how do you handle all of this. I try to just keep telling myself my surgeon knows what he's doing and he is the best at what he does here at this hospital and he will take care of me as he did the first time. Still I am only 57 years old and I'm terrified.
