About Me

I was informed I needed Mitral Valve Repair in December 2021, and started doing research online about the procedure and different ways it could be done. I came across HeartValveSurgery.com in the process and it provided a wealth of information. I interviewed 2 surgeons the first week of January this year. One would perform it the traditional way, long recovery, no driving for 6 to 8 weeks, etc. The other surgeon would do it as they call it, minimally invasive. Having done extensive research prior to the meetings with the surgeons, including watching a youtube video that showed an actual procedure done on a patient. All this helped me decide the minimally invasive approach was what I wanted. I was 70 years old at the time of my surgery, (71 now), had the surgery on Jan 24, 2022, was discharged 48 hours after my surgery, yes 48 hours. Was walking 1 mile after about 8 days, driving in 10 days, back to the gym at 2 weeks lifting light weights. Back to work at 2 weeks from home. Fully recovered after 3 weeks. Only pain medicine I took was extra strength tylenol. I am now just past 7 months, do 4.4 miles every morning, running 2 miles, walking the rest. Your website was very helpful and glad I came across this website.
