About Me

I was born with a hole in my heart and pulmonary stenosis. I had surgery at age 2 1/2 with no blood in 1974 by Dr. Mathews at Maine Medical Center Portland, Maine. Returned for surgery in October 28th 1981 to open the pulmonary valve and repair the hole, Dr. Edward Nowicki was my surgeon, Dr. Richard McFaul was my Pediatric Cardiologist. I've been very healthy and active since then but in recent years my doctor has been keeping a close eye on me. I have severe pulmonary regurgitation causing the right side of my heart to enlarge significantly which is causing my tricuspid valve to severely regurgitate. My Pediatric Cardiologist, Wade Hamilton sent me for a Cardiac MRI on May 15, 2018 at Maine Medical Center of Portland Maine. In June he recommended surgery and referred me to Dr.Gerald Marx of Boston Children's Hospital. My date of surgery will be on November 30th 2018, my birthday, at Boston Children's Hospital. My surgeon will be Dr. Christopher Baird. I will be meeting with Dr. Marx Monday November 26th for precatherization preparation 6-8 hour day. Tuesday November 27th Cardiac Catherization and pre surgery prep on Wednesday November 28th. Surgery on Friday November 30th. I'm looking forward to a long and healthy life after I fully recover and hope to feel like I did when I was 30.
