About Me

I was diagnosed with an Aortic Aneurysm in 2020 at the age of 51. I'm quite active - endurance athlete and all that jazz, so hearing this news was quite alarming. A CT scan measured me at 4.7cm at the time and I was told we would keep an eye on it. I was told that I could continue running just don't lift heavy weights which was fine. My most recent CT scan measured at 4.9cm which, hence me going into surgery. Dr. Shemin is doing a "valve sparing root replacement" which I guess is called a "David" procedure. I'm fairly anxious about it...haven't slept well this week after learning about the surgery. Looking forward to learning more from this community.
