Send Arlene a NoteAbout Me
Just over two years ago I was haveing heart palpitaions. I was sent to a cardiologist and had a stress echocardiogram. I was diagnosed with moderate aortic stenosis and put on meds to for the palpitations. I knew exactly what aortic stenosis was as my mother had severe aortic stenosis and had the TAVR procedure done in May of 2013. Sadly in 2016 she was diagnosed with stenosis in her mitral valve and was unable to have surgery due to health issues. She passed away in July of 2016. I had a follow up echocardiogram July 2019 and was told there was not much change. I continued to think I had years before we would need to do anything about my aortic valve. I had an active summer with grandchildren, gardening, and summer activities. Then over the last couple of months I started being symptomatic. My cardiologist retired and I had to find a new one. Three weeks ago I became very symptomatic went to the new cardiologist had another echocardiogram and was told I now have severe aortic stenosis and need to have the valve replaced. I have began the process of test before I see the heart surgeon.
