About Me

I was born with a bicuspid aortic valve that was closely monitored until I reached young adulthood. The years following that until the last few I was able to pretty much ignore my mild aortic stenosis. Things progressed. Unfortunately, the past few years has made ignoring this impossible, and the tightened chest during exertion was the most prevalent sign that something was wrong. The past six months have been marked with light headedness and episodes of weakness; I finally saw a cardiologist after 11 years or so and have been diagnosed with severe aortic stenosis. So here I am, knowing surgery is going to happen but not yet knowing when. The nagging tightness in my chest always seems to be there. I look forward to the day that I can put this worry behind me.
