My pressure was higher after surgery as well. It did settle down a couple months into recovery though. My cardiologist wanted me to stay on beta blockers, so I will do that. I would say to discuss the issue with your cardiologist next time you have a checkup.

hello it has been approximetly since my aortic valve and aneurysm replacement, i'm concerned about having higher blood pressures than i used to have before 11/7 before now 13 14/8, is that normal?

I think it is important to measure and record your blood pressures over a period of time, and then discuss your results with your doctor. The overall trend is more meaningful than any one particular reading. You might try checking your BP morning and night for 2 weeks, and see... Read more.

I know of someone who had Mitral valve replacement in his 20s with a tissue valve and he was and is extremely athletic. He was a professional ice hockey player and still plays numerous sports. You will be fine!
