Hello everyone! I'm on the home stretch! It's Monday, 7/25, and next Tuesday, 8/2, I'll have my open heart surgery 2 days after my 63rd birthday! I would say to have faith in your medical team, and try not to worry too much. These doctors and hospital staff do these procedures every day and the statistics are in your favor. Be patient with yourself during recovery, and try not to compare your recovery to anyone else.... Read more.

I did not need one of these. The hospital gave me a heart hugger which was great.

Thank-you Rose. I bought a Heart Hugger and it seems like a good brace for coughs, sneezes, using the breathing machine, and feeling as if my sternum has more support. Do you agree? Is there a trick to wearing it?
