About Me

I was a very active person but always had this issue with my breathing and not understanding why it would never get better even though I was active playing Roller Derby 3 times a week for 2 hours sometimes 3 hours a day. I had gone to my doctor a couple of times and was told it was asthma but it just didn't feel right to me and deep inside I knew something else was going one. In September of 2014, I had been involved in a weekend Roller Derby Tournament after that weekend I had gotten very sick with Pneumonia and after 3 rounds of medications my doctor sent me for a chest x-ray and discovered that my heart was enlarged and from there I was sent to see a cardiologist who sent me for an Echo, TEE test, stress test and a Scan of my heart only to be told I had a narrowed artery and mitral stenosis/regurgitation and I needed to have surgery and that they couldn't repair my valves they needed to be replaced and so I wait for a surgery date. It's a scary process because I really have no direction as of yet of what I should be wary of in symptoms as I have pains in my chest all the time along with dizziness and a burning sensation in my chest and I don't know if I should be getting this checked while waiting to meet with the surgeon. I know I keep being told that I will feel so much better after the surgery but the anxiety of it now is overwhelming and I have been told that I am not allowed to exercise because it's not worth the risk...this is the hardest because I have always been so active and now nothing and I am gaining wait and I hate it, I am so frustrated at this point. I received the phone call to meet with the surgeon Dr. Forgie on March 11,2015
