I was diagnosed with a heart murmur in March 2015. It was found that I had a bicuspid aortic valve. Both my father and brother also had to have surgery for a bicuspid valve. I have had yearly visits with the my cardiologist and this year after my echo I was diagnosed with severe aortic stenosis and was told it was time for a new valve. I was tested for the less invasive TAVR procedure, but was not a candidate. My surgery is scheduled for May 20th.
