I had no idea that I had anything wrong with my heart, was a bit breathless but that was all. It was whilst I was in Switzerland visiting my son that I started to feel ill. On the Thursday I got back to uk I was having trouble breathing so called 111 & they sent a paramedic who said I had a bad asthma attack, the following night it was even worse so called an ambulance, so was rushed to hospital & was diagnosed with acute pulmonary oedema & atrial fibrillation, it was very scary . I was admitted to hospital & an echocardiogram revealed I had severe aortic stenosis. So after 11 days in hospital I had my operation on 23 December for a new tissue valve, this experience has been so traumatic & even though I am now on the road to recovery I still panic when I think what I have been through. This is why I am writing this journal, hoping that it will help me & wondering if anyone else has felt this way. I know I am doing well can walk up hills now without feeling breathless, but some days like today I feel really tired, I have just been taking off a beta blocker as it made me feel dizzy & lightheaded I was on Amiodarone & that made me really ill,ended up in A&E one night as felt so bad. I know I feel a lot better but some days I feel so low. Do other people feel like this 3 months after having OHS ? Be great to find out & to reassure me I am not the only one feeling like this. The photo was taken 2 weeks ago, first night out for ages, was tired the next day though . Looking forward to meeting people on here who have experienced what I have (should have joined before )
