Richard's Profile

My name is Richard Volpe. I am 48 years old and I was diagnosed with bicuspid aortic stenosis a year and a half ago. I never knew I had a bicuspid aortic valve until I went in for a checkup and the doctor told me I had a murmur and should be checked out. Low and behold a year and a half later I am scheduled for surgery August 6th at the Cleveland Clinic to replace my aortic valve. My surgeon is Dr. Gillinov. I will be traveling to the Cleveland Clinic for pre-op testing on the 4th & 5th and I will find out the evening before what time surgery is on Friday the 6th. I can't wait until this whole ordeal is behind me. I have a beautiful wife and two wonderful boys. We are from the Chicagoland area and are huge White Sox and Blackhawks fans. Go White Sox!
