Send Paul a NoteAbout Me
I am 63 and first had a heart murmur detected when I was about 10 or so. By 18, a doctor at University of Michigan (where I was going to school) told me I had an "aortic click" and might need a valve replacement someday. Some (many) days later, I found myself in my mid-50s, getting progressively out of breath on walks. My then doctor dismissed it but a second opinion got me back to U of M for an evaluation and diagnosis, in 2014 of aortic stenosis. Monitored for the past 4 years, I now will be having surgery to replace the aortic valve and a double, possible triple bypass. July 19, 2018 is my surgery date and I'm mostly just looking forward to getting that over with, out of the way, and moving on. This site has been a tremendous help, reading other people's stories, getting some very helpful and reassuring feedback, etc.
